To ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the average turnover in rural post offices of retirement pension payments and benefits in the last year for which figures are available.

Rural offices differ significantly in size. The payment value of pension and benefit transactions is estimated as ranging between £30,000 and £500,000 per annum.
