§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will consider holding centrally information on national health service premises which fail to hold a valid fire certificate.
§ Mr. SackvilleLocal fire authorities are responsible for enforcing fire precautions in those parts of national health service premises designated under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 which require a fire certificate. It would be inappropriate for this information to be collected by the Department.
For clinical areas and other parts of hospitals not requiring a fire certificate general managers and chief executives are required to confirm to the Department that their fire precaution arrangements have been agreed with the local fire authority.
