§ Dr. MawhinneyParagraph 9(3) of schedule 5 to the National Health Service Act 1977 provides for the Secretary of State to make a payment of compensation to chairmen of health authorities, with the approval of the Treasury, where it appears that there are special circumstances for that person to receive compensation.
There is no such legislative provision in respect of chairmen of NHS trusts.

However, these details and previous employment are usually included in a candidate's curriculum vitae. Those appointed are not required to notify any changes to such personal details after their appointment. I do not propose to alter these arrangements.
§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will consider holding centrally information on the number of chairmen and non-executive directors who declined to receive emoluments in respect of membership of(a) regional health authorities, (b) district health authorities, (c) family health service authorities and (d) hospital trusts.
