HC Deb 20 April 1993 vol 223 cc73-4W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what powers he has to ensure that equipment granted an export licence so that it may be displayed at an arms exhibition or in trials overseas is returned to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Needham

It is a condition of licences granted for temporary export that the exporter return the goods within a specified period. Under article 5(3) of the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1992, failure to comply with any condition attaching to a licence is an offence, punishable by fine or imprisonment or both. If necessary, my Export Control Organisation may ensure compliance by visits to exporters' premises to check documentation and/or physical presence of the goods.
