HC Deb 20 April 1993 vol 223 cc67-8W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the average time taken by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board to reach a decision and advise a client's solicitor; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jack

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board does not maintain detailed statistics on the time taken for a first decision to be made on cases. However, it has been established that some 80 per cent. of cases reach that stage within one year of the application having been received. The number of cases in which a first offer is made and accepted stands at about 50 per cent.
