To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many troops are currently serving in Germany; at what cost to the Exchequer; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Archie Hamilton
The military manpower strength of the British Army of the Rhine is currently about 40,000 and the defence budget provision for BAOR is some £1,275 million for 1993–94.
