HC Deb 19 April 1993 vol 223 c10W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Immigration and Nationality Department solicits information on individual cases from local authorities without the express consent of the individual.

Mr. Charles Wardle

There are various circumstances in which the Immigration and Nationality Department may ask local authorities for information about an individual. It is not always appropriate to seek to express consent of the person concerned.
