To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information is held by OFWAT as to the percentage of domestic houses that have a water meter installed, region by region, at the most recent date for which information is available and the same date 12 months perviously.

The information is not available by region. Information for each water company for 1991–92 is shown in the table. For similar information for 1992–93, I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Northfield (Mr. Burden) on 2 April, Official Report, column 521.
