To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what research his Department is(a) carrying out and (b) commissioning into the sustainability of transport policy.

§ Mr. MacGregor
The Department has established a group to monitor longer term and transport research. Projects are currently under way or have recently been completed in the following areas:
—demand management and forecasting;

—network modelling;

—transport and the environment;

—transport safety.
