HC Deb 14 April 1993 vol 222 c558W
Mr. Dowd

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what studies his Department has undertaken on the effect of international rail services on London's commuter services; and if he will publish them.

Mr. Freeman

No such studies have been undertaken by the Department of Transport as international rail services are a matter for British Rail. British Rail gave an assurance to Parliament during the passage of the Channel Tunnel Act that commuter services would not be adversely affected by the introduction of international trains. British Rail has every intention of standing by that assurance.
