HC Deb 01 April 1993 vol 222 c351W
Lady Olga Maitland

To ask the Secretary of State for Education (1) what plans he has to allow the introduction of condoms in schools;

(2) if he will bring forward proposals to ensure that sex education in schools embraces a moral code and the responsibilities of parenthood.

Mr. Forth

My right hon. Friend has no such plans. Section 46 of the Education (No 2) Act 1986 already requires that any sex education which schools provide—whether or not it is required as part of the national curriculum—should be given in such a manner as to encourage pupils to have due regard to moral considerations and the value of family life.
