§ Sir John StanleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps his Department has taken to implement the private finance initiative announced in the autumn statement on 12 November 1992 and in the Treasury private finance guidance published on 9 December 1992.
§ Mr. David HuntMy Department is examining the scope for involving the private sector in the ways suggested in the interim guidance published by the Treasury. In a number of areas, the Welsh Office and its sponsored bodies are actively engaged in joint ventures with the private sector. I expect the new guidelines to help expand this practice into new fields. A number of such projects are already under consideration.
