To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of unemployed(a) men and (b) women in south Wales; and if he will give for each sex the percentage unemployment rate.

In February 1993 there were 70,178 male and 17,295 female unemployed claimants in south Wales—defined as the counties of Gwent and Mid, South and West Glamorgan—representing 15.5 and 5 per cent. of the male and female work force respectively.
