§ Mr. Garel-JonesWe do not intend to press for additional resources for agriculture either during, or after, the United Kingdom presidency. The recently agreed 945W common agricultural policy reform measures included generous compensation for all farmers. In addition, the Community's agricultural guidance fund already provides resources to support structural change and investment in the agricultural sector.
The European social fund is essentially a vocational training and retraining fund. The United Kingdom's top priority is that the European social fund should continue to help those who are unemployed back into the labour market through vocational training and employment measures.
