HC Deb 29 October 1992 vol 212 cc796-7W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what response he has made to representations from the National Federation of Housing Associations about the retention of the £ 2 billion grant for housing associations; and if he will make it his policy that no cuts in expenditure will be made to the budget for the west midlands.

Mr. Baldry

The chairwoman of the National Federation of Housing Associations wrote to my right hon. Friends, the Secretary of State for the Environment and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, on 7 September.

In replying on their behalf, my hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Planning said that the Government could not comment on the discussions that are currently taking place about future public expenditure.

Next year, as this, resources will be allocated to the Housing Corporation's regions in accordance with the housing needs indicator.
