HL Deb 29 October 1992 vol 539 c108WA
Lord Stanley of Alderley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is within their delegated powers from the European Commission to allow sheep farmers to notify the number of ewes at the beginning and again at the end of the reference period, rather than notifying losses every 10 days during that period.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

Article 6 of Commission Regulation 3007/84 stipulates that losses must be notified within 10 days of discovery, and we have no powers to vary this essential control measure.
