§ Mr. PikeTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consideration he has given to the impact on the Romanian economy and on the progress of change of the implementation by Romania of sanctions against Yugoslavia; if he has discussed this with his European opposite numbers; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe implementation of sanctions against Serbia and Montenegro presents problems for all neighbouring states. Romania has, however, been able to pursue its programme of reform with support from the international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World bank, as well as with G24 balance of payments support.
My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs is in frequent consultation with European partners and with other interested governments on all aspects of the current crisis in former Yugoslavia.
