HC Deb 27 October 1992 vol 212 c561W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether long-term contracts for the supply of gas to power stations include a clause linking the price to that of oil or any other measure; and if the Government will ensure that the price of electricity is not increased to take into account any increase in the price of gas.

Mr. Eggar

The contractual agreements between suppliers of natural gas and customers engaged in electricity generation are a commercial matter for the companies concerned. Licence conditions, including the electricity price controls, are a matter for the Director General of Electricity Supply.
