HC Deb 27 October 1992 vol 212 cc593-4W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will outline the current travel-to-work area boundaries for the Doncaster area; and if her Department has any plans for reviewing them.

Mr. McLoughlin

The current travel-to-work areas, TTWA, have been compiled from 1981 ward boundaries, using data from the 1981 census of population. The wards for the Doncaster TTWA are as follows: Ardwick, Armthorpe, Askern, Balby, Bentley, Central, Bentley, North Road, Bessacarr, Central, Eddington and Warmsworth, Hatfield, Intake, Richmond, Rossington, South East, Southern Parks, Stainforth, Thorne, Town Field, Wheatley—which are all in the Doncaster local authority district—and Haxey, which is in the Boothferry local authority district.

A travel-to-work area review is planned and will take into account any significant changes in commuting patterns in the United Kingdom. It will use the special workplace statistics from the 1991 census of population scheduled for release in November 1993. Draft TTWAs are expected to be available approximately six to nine months after that.
