§ Mr. MacleanThe Government's policy is that manufacturers, distributors and retailers should take their share of responsibility for what ultimately happens to products which they place on the market. I therefore welcome the recent initiative announced by the vehicle manufacturers in this area. A full statement of Government policy on recycling and an account of progress against targets is set out in "This Common Inheritance: the Second Year Report" (Cm 2068).
