To ask the Attorney-General what steps his Department is taking to speed up the progress of cases coming to court.

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Denton and Reddish (Mr. Bennett). The Serious Fraud Office and the Crown prosecution service have also been participating in a working group on long criminal trials and ways to reduce their length. I expect a consultation paper to be published shortly.
