HC Deb 26 October 1992 vol 212 c445W
Mr. Bowis

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what assessment he has made of the different scales of pay between A-level teachers in schools, A-level teachers in sixth-form colleges and A-level teachers in further education colleges.

Mr. Forman

Teachers in secondary schools and sixth form colleges can be paid an incentive allowance, at the discretion of the governing body, for taking on extra responsibilities. In further education colleges lecturers are paid on one of two scales or on a management spine. In neither case are there separate scales or allowances for teaching A-levels. On 1 April 1993, further education corporations, including the former sixth form colleges, will have responsibility for determining the pay and conditions of their staff.
