§ Mr. Allan StewartAll Departments within the Scottish Office have an ongoing responsibility to identify potential areas for deregulation and any Department proposing new legislation or regulations which are likely to impose a burden on business must carry out an assessment of the cost to business of compliance. No separate financial provision has been made within the operating costs of the Scottish Office departments for those purposes.
