§ Mr. JackInformation for the first six months of 1992 is not yet available, but in the 12 months to the end of March 1992, 5.4 million notifiable offences were recorded by the police. But this is not directly comparable with 2.5 million recorded notifiable offences in 1979, because of the new counting rules introduced at the beginning of 1980.
