HC Deb 21 October 1992 vol 212 c330W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is, in pence per unit, and as a percentage of the domestic price, the approximate cost of(a) capital cost of generation, (b) fuel and its safe disposal, (c) transmission and distribution and (d) other costs, respectively, of each of the main fuel categories of power available for installation.

Mr. Eggar

[holding answer 19 October 1992]: The average price of electricity used in domestic premises this year is expected to be approximately 8p/kwh. Of this, around half is attributable to generation costs and around one third to transmission and distribution, with the remainder accounted for by supply costs and the fossil fuel levy.
