HC Deb 21 October 1992 vol 212 c308W
Mr. Lord

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when the review of dismounted public duties was completed; and with what results.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

After consultation with the royal household, the Metropolitan police and other Departments, a number of measures have been identified which will reduce requirements for the employment of Foot Guards manpower on public duties while maintaining essential security and appropriate ceremonial. Her Majesty the Queen has graciously agreed to these measures and they will be implemented between now and 1994. A document providing the full details is being placed in the Library of the House.
