§ Mr. Kenneth CarlisleThe flow of information will be improved by the relevant provisions of the New Roads. and Street Works Act 1991, which will come into force on 1 January 1993. They will require street authorities—normally the local highway authorities—to co-ordinate undertakers' street works and works for their own road purposes, and will impose a duty of co-operation on the undertakers. We shall shortly be publishing a code of practice giving practical guidance on the carrying out of these duties. The code will draw the attention of the promoting undertaker of works to the importance of242W giving advance information and warning to affected frontagers not only about disruption to their services but if their access is to be affected for any length of time.
