§ Mr. ForthFive schools in Cheshire have applied for grant-maintained status to date. Of these, two have been approved, and one is under consideration.

§ Mr. ForthOn September 29 1989, there were 18 schools operating, nine approved but not yet operating, and 21 in the process of applying for GM status. Seven ballots were pending.
On October 19 1992, 278 GM schools were operational, 30 were approved or "minded to approve" but not yet operating and 179 were in the process of applying for GM status. Sixty-seven ballots were pending.
