To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many children under school-leaving age had been injured in road traffic accidents in Wales(a) prior to the launch of his Department's target to reduce road casualties by one third by the year 2000 and (b) for the latest year for which figures are available.

In 1991, the total number of road traffic accidents in Wales was 10,824. Information relating to head injuries resulting from road accidents is not collected centrally.
