HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c169W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what efforts are being undertaken by his Department to ensure improved compensation settlements and speedy decisions on benefit entitlement for victims of road accidents.

Miss Widdecombe

Decisions on benefit entitlement are made as quickly as possible. The Benefits Agency customer charter defines the standards of service and the clearance times which its customers can expect. The agency is continually looking for ways to improve its service.

The Department cannot intervene in settlement negotiations between the accident victim and the compensator.
