To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many patients have been transferred from Northern Ireland health board waiting lists to private health care surgeries in the Republic of Ireland; and what has been the total cost of this exercise since its commencement.

The Northern health and social services board has contracted with Blackrock clinic, Dublin to provide plastic surgery for 32 patients on its waiting list. So far seven patients have been treated at a cost of £7,000. In addition one patient from the Southern health and social services board has received cardiac surgery at Blackrock clinic at a cost of £7,000.
