To ask the Lord President of the Council what proportion of the time spent by the House in Report stages of Government Bills during the Session 1990–91 was taken up by debates on new clauses and amendments which did not conclude with a Division.

The total amount of time spent in Session 1990–91 on the Report stages of Government Bills was 95 hours and 47 minutes. The time taken up by debates on new clauses and amendments which did not conclude with a Division was 48 hours and 37 minutes, or 51 per cent. of the total time taken on Report stages of Government Bills.
