To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will publish the criteria which need to be satisfied when calling for an ambulance to respond in an emergency.

Anyone may call an NHS ambulance following an accident, sudden illness or collapse.

Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what information her Department has concerning the ratio between activated and stand-by time of emergency ambulance areas generally necessary to achieve ORCON standards under different patterns of population and traffic density.

Mr. Sackville

The deployment of ambulance personnel and vehicles to meet national emergency performance standards is a matter for local ambulance service providers and their purchasers.
