§ Sir John CopeAround 830 VAT central unit posts are to be relocated from Southend in phases between October and March 1995. Over the same period, some 110 Customs Directorate posts will be moved from London to Southend. This will mean that 320 posts have been moved in total from London to Southend and will complete the implementation of the Customs relocation programme announced in 1989 following a comprehensive internal study undertaken in the context of the Government's overall relocation policy.
