HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 c57W
Mr. Steen

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the action being taken in each other EC country to meet the new EC requirements on sheep premium.

Mr. Curry

It is for the Commission to monitor member states implementation of Community legislation on the sheepmeat regime.

Mr. Steen

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the additional checks and requirements that are now required to meet new European Community requirements on those applying for sheep premium in 1992; and what timetable has been imposed.

Mr. Curry

The principal changes to the 1992 sheep annual premium scheme requiring additional checking are the application of headage payment limits to partnerships and to shared flocks; the eligibility of leased flocks, shepherds, and employees in the context of a producer group claim; and the need for producers to keep additional records. There is no formal timetable but we aim to complete all checks and pay claims as quickly as possible.
