HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 c43W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if his Department will carry out and publish an inventory of the contents of the historic royal palaces, indicating what items are public property.

Mr. Brooke

The royal household has for some time been preparing a computerised inventory, to replace existing manual records, of all the works of art in the occupied royal palaces. These are part of the royal collection which is owned by the sovereign in right of the Crown.
