HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 cc32-3W
Mr. Tipping

To ask the President of the Board of Trade when he intends to announce his decision on the inspector's report following the public inquiry into a new gas-fired power station at Staythorpe, Nottinghamshire.

Mr. Eggar

[holding answer 26 November 1992]: My right hon. Friend informed the House on 21 October that, as part of the wider Government review into the coal industry, he would review the use of his consent powers under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989. Until the review of the use of his consent powers is completed, my right hon. Friend proposes to defer his decisions on outstanding applications for his consent under section 36 for new power stations.
