HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 c73W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will remove budgeting limits for the London ambulance service to allow all overtime offered by staff to be taken up to the extent necessary to avoid shortages in rostered crews.

Mr. Sackville

The London ambulance service has had real growth of £1 million 1992–93 with a total budget of £69.7 million for the year. The LAS is expected to operate within the resources available to it and to manage overtime levels effectively. Management and staff agree the need to review jointly the effectiveness of the current rosters in meeting the standards of service expected from the LAS and must work together to achieve that objective.
