§ Mr. BrookeMost Government funds for sport are channelled through the Sports Council, which allocates these according to its policies and priorities. In the current financial year, the Sports Council has allocated a total of £398,000 in grant to gymnastics. This includes £322,000 to the British Amateur Gymnastics Association in support of the programmes identified in its four-year plan; £53,000 towards the costs of staging the world artistic gymnastics championships in Birmingham in April 1993; £13,000 to the British Schools Gymnastics Association; and £10,000 towards the costs of staging an international Brevet course in January 1993. In addition, the Foundation for Sport and the Arts has provided £1,649,992 for various projects associated with the development of gymnastics since September 1991.
