HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 cc18-9W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will make it his policy to establish and fund a United Kingdom-wide network of family mediation services.

Mr. John M. Taylor

The Lord Chancellor is considering the role and funding of family mediation services in England and Wales as part of the wider review of family law announced earlier this year and has no immediate plans to establish and fund a national network of such services.

Meanwhile, local family mediation services in England and Wales are funded by the voluntary and private sectors with assistance in some areas from the probation service and local authorities. Separate arrangements operate in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
