§ Mr. YeoThe Department has received a number of representations following our decision to ring fence the whole of the community care special transitional grant. I have met the national voluntary organisations representing alcohol and drug misuse services, and with leading service providers. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State is meeting representatives of the Alcohol and Drug Services Alliance today.
§ Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what method of algebra group data was used for calculating the amount of community care funding to be transferred to local authorities after April.
§ Mr. YeoThe formula used and the assumptions made in calculating the amount of the transfer from social security are explained in the Department of Health's memorandum dated 13 November 1992. A copy is in the Library.
§ 141. Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will identify the make-up of the amount allocated for community care support and other service costs, for 1993–94, broken down into(a) costs arising from development of purchasing and contracting, (b) development of financial systems, (c) setting up of assessment and care management systems, (d) information technology, (e) the effect of alignment of charges, (f) inspection of small homes, (g) home care and (h) support to carers.
§ Mr. YeoThe £140 million additional finance covers all the items listed except inspection of small homes, which was considered in the context of the overall personal social services settlement.
