HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 cc58-9W
Mr. Marlow

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and food, pursuant to his answer of 25 November, what is the European Commission's estimate of the overall level of reduction in each agricultural commodity arising from the assumption made in preparation of its latest GATT proposals; and how that breaks down in volume, percentage and value terms in each EC country and commodity and overall throughout the EC.

Mr. Curry

The European Commission has prepared a note on the GATT agricultural negotations with the United States. This analyses the compatibility of the outcome with the reform of the CAP as decided by the Council on 22 May 1992. A copy of the report will be deposited in the Library of the House when it becomes available. It is not possible to assess the level of output in individual member states within the single market without making a large number of assumptions about the development of markets, except for some commodities where quotas set a limit on output.
