Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on what date his Department commenced negotiations for the use of the Cnewr estate in the Brecon Beacons national park; on what date these negotiations were completed; on what date the National Park Authority was informed of these negotiations; on what defence grounds the decision was taken to seek the use of this land; what changes he envisages as a result of his Department's environment manual; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much it will cost his Department to use the Cnewr estate in Brecon Beacons; how many days per year it will be used; how it will be used; what public access will be allowed on days when military exercises are not taking place; if he will compensate the national park for loss of access to the Cnewr; and what other land of his Department will be released as a result of this access.
