To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the Cardiff Bay development corporation concerning the employment of Bechtel Corporation as liaison consultants in relation to the construction contract on the proposed barrage.

Cardiff Bay development corporation has kept my officials informed on its plans to let a project management consultancy for the proposed barrage.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the Cardiff Bay development corporation regarding the date of issuing invitations to tender for the construction of the proposed barrage; what indicative price will be specified in the invitations; and if he will make a statement.

I understand that the Cardiff Bay development corporation intends to issue invitations to tender for the construction of the proposed barrage in the new year. The tender documents will make it clear that the award of the contract is dependent, amongst other things, on Royal Assent for the Cardiff Bay Barrage Bill. The development corporation does not propose to include an indicative price.
