§ Mr. AtkinsIt is expected that the draft Order in Council which will provide the necessary powers to enable any of Northern Ireland's trust ports to be privatised, will be laid before both Houses in the summer of 1993. It will become law two months from the date made.
The draft order will allow any Northern Ireland trust port authority to submit a privatisation scheme for approval and provide the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland with powers to initiate a scheme to privatise a trust port with a turnover of more than £5 million in at least two of the proceeding three years, if that port authority has not itself submitted such a scheme within two years of the enactment of the order.
