§ Mr. Peter LloydEvery effort is being made to bring down the number of prisoners in police cells. Provided that the prison population remains at or below its current level, I would expect the bulk of the police cells problem in Greater Manchester to end early next year. However, until Manchester prison becomes fully operational in June 1944, a rise in the prison population could lead to further calls on police cells.
