§ Mr. FatchettTo ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) if he will set out the distribution in the United Kingdom of each of the Community initiatives under the European structural funds, in each assisted region, in terms of(a) allocation of grant in ecu and in pound sterling at current exchange rates in total and sub-divided into European regional development fund, European social fund and other structural funds and (b) the value of grant so far approved in ecu and pound sterling at current exchange rates; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what assessment his Department has made of allocations to the United Kingdom from the Community initiatives under the European structural funds; and if he will make a statement;
(3) if he will list the European structural funds Community initiatives; what was the allocation to the United Kingdom for the period 1991 to 1993 in ecus and in pound sterling at current exchange rates in total and sub-divided into European regional development fund, European social fund and other structural funds; and what was the United Kingdom allocation under each programme as a percentage of the total allocation for each programme.

The European Commission has launched 13 such initiatives. The most recent (RETEX) has not yet reached the stage of firm allocations. The available figures for the other 12 initiatives are as follows:
