HC Deb 26 November 1992 vol 214 c794W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) how many road development plans currently mentioned within local authority structural plans in Wales threaten special protection areas and Ramsar sites; and if he will list the proposed developments and the sites involved;

(2) if he will list the local authority development plans which currently pose (a) one and (b) two or more threats to Ramsar sites and special protection areas in Wales; and if he will list the sites affected.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The only proposal in a county structure plan in Wales which crosses part of a designated special protection area, which is also a Ramsar site, is the Shotton to Connah's Quay bypass, a non-trunk road scheme on the A548, identified in the approved Clwyd structure plan. This will involve a new crossing of the Dee estuary. There are no proposals in approved local plans in Wales for development on areas within a designated special protection area or Ramsar site.
