HC Deb 26 November 1992 vol 214 cc776-7W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when is he going to take a decision on the applications by Bosnian nationals, sponsored by the Leeds-based Alert organisation, who applied to enter the United Kingdom for medical treatment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Charles Wardle

It has been agreed to grant exceptionally and on compassionate grounds visas for two individuals to come to the United Kingdom to claim asylum and receive medical treatment. Six members of the families of these two will be allowed to accompany them. Sponsors have agreed to meet the cost of medical treatment.

Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what right of appeal is available to those Bosnian nationals, sponsored by the Leeds-based Alert organisation, whose applications to enter the United Kingdom, exceptionally, outside the immigration rules, have been refused; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Charles Wardle

They may appeal to an adjudicator under section 13(2) of the Immigration Act 1971.
