§ Mr. Robin Squire[holding answer 20 November 1992]: Assisted area status applies to those parts of Staffordshire lying within the Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Dudley travel-to-work areas.
RAS grant is awarded to support capital investment projects which create or safeguard jobs and grant offered to the above areas over the last three years was as follows:
£ 1989–90 986,500 1990–91 991,500 1991–92 89,500 totalling £2,067,500 in all. None of these awards has been assisted from EC funds.
